About Tubbies FAQ's

Tubbies is a baby-care brand built around thoughtful, science-informed skincare for delicate baby skin.

Our approach is simple: understand what baby skin needs, choose ingredients with purpose, and avoid making baby care more complicated than it needs to be.

Tubbies was founded by Dr. Deepa Sinha, a doctor and mother.

Medicine shaped the way she looks at evidence. Motherhood changed the way she looks at every decision.

Together, they led to the question that guides Tubbies:

“Would I use this for my own child?”

Because we believe parents deserve to understand not only what is in their baby's skincare, but why it's there.

We formulate thoughtfully, communicate transparently, and let science—not trends or fear—guide our choices.

Yes. Tubbies products are dermatologically tested.

Baby Skin & Everyday Care

Not necessarily.

Most healthy babies don't need complicated, multi-step skincare routines. Their needs vary with age, climate, skin type and individual circumstances.

We believe in using what your baby needs, when they need it—not adding products simply to create a routine.

Baby skin is still developing. Its barrier differs from mature adult skin and can be more susceptible to moisture loss and environmental influences.

Gentle cleansing, appropriate moisturisation and protection when needed can help support this developing skin barrier.

Not always.

For many babies, a gentle head-to-toe cleanser is sufficient for both the scalp and body. A separate shampoo may be useful when there is a specific hair or scalp-care need.

Not every baby's skin has identical needs.

Moisturiser can be particularly useful when skin feels dry or when additional barrier support is needed. Frequency can be adjusted according to your baby's skin, environment and season.

Yes.

Tubbies Baby Lotion can be gently massaged into the skin while moisturising.

And we don't believe you need a separate product simply because it's bedtime—the warmth, gentle touch and parent-child interaction are an important part of the experience.

Ingredients & Formulation

Every ingredient needs a reason to be there.

We consider its function, safety, available scientific evidence, compatibility with delicate skin and how it performs within the complete formulation.

Some ingredients care directly for the skin. Others preserve the product, maintain its texture or stability, or help other ingredients perform properly.

They all have a job.

No—and that's intentional.

“Chemical-free” isn't scientifically meaningful. Water itself is a chemical.

Rather than dividing ingredients into “chemical” and “natural,” we ask more useful questions:

Is it appropriate? Is it safe at the intended use level? What purpose does it serve in the formulation?

Not necessarily.

An ingredient's origin alone doesn't determine its safety. Natural ingredients can cause irritation or sensitisation, while many synthetic or highly refined ingredients have extensive safety data.

At Tubbies, we choose ingredients for their purpose, safety and suitability— not simply because they're natural or synthetic.

Because preservation is part of product safety.

Products containing water can support microbial growth if they aren't adequately preserved. A carefully designed preservative system helps keep the product safe and stable during its intended shelf life and use.

Some Tubbies formulations include carefully selected aromatic ingredients to create a gentle sensory experience alongside their skincare function.

We know that fragrance isn't necessary for a product to cleanse, moisturise or protect the skin. But baby care is also an experience—the warmth of bath time, the familiarity of a parent's touch, and the little rituals that become part of everyday care.

Where we choose to include an aromatic ingredient, its role is intentional: to add a subtle sensory dimension to that experience, not to overpower it.

At the same time, fragrance ingredients can cause irritation or sensitisation in some individuals, particularly those with very sensitive or allergy-prone skin. That's why we consider the ingredient, its concentration, the intended use of the product and the formulation as a whole.

For us, sensory experience has a place in baby care—but never at the expense of thoughtful formulation.

Because we don't formulate around labels or trends.

For some products, we may choose a carefully considered sensory element; for others, there may be no reason to include one. We evaluate each formulation individually—its purpose, intended area of use, concentration, safety and overall user experience.

And as the science evolves, so can our formulations.

White Petrolatum USP is a highly refined, well-established skin protectant.

It forms an occlusive layer that helps reduce water loss from the skin and supports barrier protection.

We chose it because its function and evidence make sense for the formulation— not because an ingredient is fashionable or unfashionable.

Zinc Oxide is a well-established skin protectant that forms a physical barrier over the skin.

In the diaper area, that barrier helps protect skin from prolonged contact with moisture and irritants.

Each was a formulation choice—not a marketing checklist.

We don't believe an ingredient becomes “bad” simply because a brand chooses not to use it.

Instead, we look at what the science says, consider the purpose of the formulation, and decide whether another ingredient or system better fits what we're trying to create.

You can read the reasoning behind each choice in Ingredients We Choose Not to Use .

No.

Ingredient count alone tells you very little about a formulation.

A product may contain ingredients for hydration, barrier support, preservation, texture, stability and pH control.

Instead of asking:

“How many ingredients are there?”

We prefer asking:

“Why is each ingredient there?”

Using Our Products

Our products are formulated with delicate baby skin in mind. However, every child's skin is individual.

Babies with known allergies, eczema or other skin conditions may have different requirements, and their treating doctor can advise on appropriate skincare.

For babies with particularly sensitive or allergy-prone skin, trying a small amount on a limited area before broader use can be a sensible precaution.

Products intended for everyday care can be used according to their directions and your baby's individual needs.

But our philosophy remains simple:

Don't use a product simply because a routine tells you to. Use it because your baby's skin needs it.

Use it on clean, dry skin when barrier protection is needed in the diaper area, following the product directions.

A rash that is severe, persistent, spreading, recurrent or otherwise unusual may need medical assessment rather than simply more barrier cream.

Yes.

Tubbies Head-to-Toe Wash is designed for both hair and body, helping keep everyday baby care simple.

Product Safety

Stop using the product.

If the reaction persists, worsens, or you are concerned about your baby's skin, seek medical advice.

No.

More products don't automatically mean better skincare.

We would rather make a few products that have a clear purpose than convince parents that healthy baby skin requires an elaborate routine.

Simple can be enough.

At Tubbies, every ingredient is selected with intention. Every formulation is thoughtfully developed to help support the unique needs of delicate baby skin—through gentle cleansing, nourishing hydration, and protective barrier care.

Because we believe that when baby skin is cared for gently, parents can enjoy every little cuddle, every smile, and every precious moment with confidence.
